GoOA launched in 2014, funded by Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), and run by National Science Library, CAS. GoOA is a non-commercial service, and we don't have any business connection with publishers nor any advertisement. All the services we offer is free, and we don't get profit from the service.
We focus on the evaluation, selection, repository of the high-quality OA journals and devote to studying a sustainable utilization of OA journals and other open resources and always seeking for good cooperation with OA publishers. Now GoOA serves for >40,000 researchers and >40,000 graduate students of CAS. We integrate the high qualified OA journals and articles, adding semantic retrieval and searching results statistics function, recommending journals for researchers to contribute.
At present, open resources, represented by academic journals and articles develop rapidly and become an indispensable source for academic research, especially open access journals, with their academic influence matching traditional business journals. It is imperative to develop open resources construction, and more and more institutions have been involved in it, like scientific research institutions or organizations, libraries, traditional database publishers, etc.Born on the base of network, open resources have the feature of scattered, easy to loss and instability, and varies considerably in the resource type, quality control, open policy, and open interfaces. All of these make open resources difficult to use or develop.
To solve this problem, National Science Library of CAS starts the “open access journals integrated service system project (GoOA)”as a precursor aiming to explore the method on discovery, selection, evaluation, conservation, and recycling construction of OA resources, providing a one-stop platform for the OA journal articles discovery.
